Who needs Code 95?
Drivers who carry goods or passengers professionally in vehicles requiring a C, CE, D or D1 licence. There are exemptions (for example some vehicles used by the army, police, fire brigade or for private non-commercial purposes). See the directive for the full list.
How do I get it?
- Initial qualification – a course and exam at an authorised training centre; or an accelerated course in some cases,
- Periodic training – 35 hours in a 5-year cycle (can be split into 7-hour blocks), at an authorised centre,
- After training, the county office enters code 95 in your Polish driving licence (or issues a driver qualification card).
Drivers from outside the EU working in Poland should check the rules for entering Code 95 in a foreign licence with the office.
Driving and rest time rules
All EU drivers follow Regulation (EC) 561/2006: 9 hours daily driving (up to 10 hours twice a week), a break of 45 minutes after 4.5 hours of driving, 56 hours weekly and 90 hours in two weeks. Use a digital tachograph and driver card.
